Research on Jatropha

a short writeup in the local media, not too long ago

During the period of 2009 - 2011, I was involved directly on the cultivation of Jatropha curcas (pokok jarak pagar) to evaluate whether the crop could be economically cultivated as an alternative (non-food) feedstock for the production of renewable energy (biofuel).

In addition, I also initiated some research with a number of local universities to evaluate (1) the potential of producing industrial biochemicals from crude jatropha oil, and (2) the potential of extracting biocomponents from various parts of the jatropha plant for medicinal / pharmaceutical purposes.
